At CYPRAEA, each piece is inspired and adorned with a raw, natural, recycled, and repurposed material.
Here's a small section to get to know them and listen to their stories.
WOOD
Our wood comes from production offcuts from Hazovato, a Malagasy company that manufactures wood and stone structures in Madagascar. All their wood comes from their own eco-managed forests in the province of Antananarivo. To close the loop, they have committed to offering us their offcuts, which were destined for incineration, to turn them into accessories.
MOTHER-OF-PEARL
Mother-of-pearl is harvested locally in southern Madagascar.
The shellfish is first collected for its meat, which is eaten by the local population, then sent to Antananarivo to be reused and transformed into all sorts of accessories and decorative objects.
THE HORN
Horn is also a revalued product. Recovered from slaughterhouses before being destroyed by incinerators, zebu horn is at the heart of Malagasy craftsmanship and culture. It is heated and sanded to reveal its marbling.
